Comprehensive Eye Examination

A complete assessment of eye health and visual quality to detect problems early, understand the cause of symptoms, and determine the most appropriate management plan for each patient.

What Does the Examination Include?

A Comprehensive, Integrated Assessment of Eye Health

The required tests are selected according to age, symptoms, medical history, and the condition of each eye.

01

Vision Assessment

Assessment of visual acuity and refractive error when needed, with comparison between both eyes.

02

Anterior Segment Examination

Examination of the eyelids, ocular surface, cornea, iris, and lens to identify inflammation, cataract, or corneal problems.

03

Eye Pressure Measurement

Measurement of intraocular pressure and assessment of whether additional glaucoma testing is needed.

04

Corneal Thickness Measurement

Precise measurement of corneal thickness, an important test for assessing corneal health, interpreting eye pressure, and planning selected procedures and surgeries.

05

Ocular Surface & Dry Eye Assessment

Assessment of the tear film, eyelids, and meibomian glands when burning, fluctuating vision, or a foreign-body sensation is present.

06

Cataract Assessment

Assessment of the natural lens, cataract severity, and its effect on vision, with determination of whether follow-up or surgery is appropriate.

07

Glaucoma Assessment

Assessment of eye pressure, the optic nerve, and anterior chamber angle, with visual field testing or optic nerve imaging when indicated.

08

Retina & Optic Nerve Examination

Evaluation of the retina and optic nerve, which may require pupil dilation depending on the case.

09

Diabetic Retinal Assessment

Examination of the retina for diabetic changes, with retinal photography or OCT imaging when appropriate.

10

Advanced Testing When Needed

Such as corneal imaging, retinal OCT, visual field testing, or fundus photography according to the initial examination findings.

When Is an Eye Examination Recommended?

Do Not Wait for an Obvious Problem

Routine eye examinations can detect some eye diseases before noticeable symptoms develop, especially in people with chronic conditions or a family history of eye disease.

Change or Reduction in Vision

Such as blurred vision, reading difficulty, glare, or reduced distance vision.

Recurrent Pain or Redness

Especially when symptoms persist or recur without a clear reason.

Diabetes or High Blood Pressure

Because some chronic diseases can affect the retina and blood vessels inside the eye.

Family History of Eye Disease

Such as glaucoma, keratoconus, or certain retinal diseases.

Before Surgery or Procedures

To confirm ocular health and select the appropriate testing and plan before the procedure.
